The Spring Chair for Minerva, designed by Setsuo Kitaoka in 1986, embodies playfulness and the celebration of movement through its bold materiality and inherent sense of dynamism. Limited documentation on the chair invites an intuitive, speculative approach to understanding its design.

This exploration embraces the chair's absurdity, investigating irrational yet instinctive ways it might be occupied. Through this interaction, new forms emerge from the symbiotic relationship between chair and occupant: as one shifts, the other responds, creating a dynamic interplay that continuously adjusts to restore balance.

Can a chair teach the body to gain ownership of form through movement?
